Author, former crime reporter and producer Michael Connelly is set to accept Los Angeles Press Club’s Distinguished Storyteller Award. The ceremony will take place at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards Gala on December 2nd at the Biltmore Hotel, downtown Los Angeles.
The Distinguished Storyteller Award honors storytellers outside of journalism.
Michael Connelly is the bestselling author of thirty-one novels and one work of nonfiction. With over seventy-four million copies of his books sold worldwide and translated into forty foreign languages, he is one of the most successful writers working today. His books about Harry Bosch is the basis for Amazon’s successful series Bosch set in Los Angeles with L.A. as a character and Michael Connelly as the very hands on Executive Producer. Two of his books, Blood Work and The Lincoln Lawyer, have been made into movies.
“I’ve been telling stories true and made up about L.A. for a long time. To receive this award gives me such fulfillment. I will treasure it and always live up to it,” said Michael Connelly.

On the same evening Comedian Carol Burnett will receive the club’s Legend Award, ABC7’s Entertainment Reporter George Pennacchio will receive the Luminary Award for Career Achievement. The late Los Angeles Times Food Critic Jonathan Gold will be honored posthumously with the Impact Award, accepted by his wife Laurie Ochoa.
